In March 2025 amendments were made to the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 requiring employers with 500 or more employees to select and meet gender equality targets.

These employers will need to select and commit to achieving 3 targets from a menu of 19 options in 2026. They will be required to meet or demonstrate meaningful improvement against each target by 2029.

Many SAGE members already set targets and are advanced in your gender equality journey. That’s great news. This legislation will allow you to build on your achievements.

To help you to understand the new targets requirements and what you can do now to prepare for selection, SAGE is hosting a targets webinar for SAGE members who are HR leaders, Diversity and Inclusion practitioners and any members involved in setting Targets and driving change.

The online session with WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge and Executive Manager Insights and Capability Sam McCurdy will cover:

  • the purpose of the legislation
  • details of the compliance requirements
  • how to best select targets that meet your organisations unique context
  • plenty of time to ask any questions you have about Targets.

This session will not be recorded.

When

Tuesday 28 October 2025, 1pm to 2pm AEDT.

Where

Online via Teams.

Who should attend

Any staff member or student from a SAGE subscriber organisation is welcome to attend, but we think you’ll find this session most useful if you are an HR leader, Diversity and Inclusion practitioner or are involved in setting Targets and driving change.
