A big welcome to SAGE’s new Advisor: Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building, Karina Jamieson, who joined our team in mid-August.
Karina has been working in the GEDI space for several years, and has the unique experience of working on both sides of the accreditation process.
She has previously worked within White Ribbon Australia’s Workplace Accreditation Program to assist businesses to end gendered violence against women.
More recently, Karina worked in a high-security women’s refuge as the Equity and Inclusion Project Officer, where she managed their Rainbow Tick Accreditation, Reconciliation Action Plan and Disability Action Plan.
She has also worked as an Economic Development specialist within local and state government organisations. During her early career, Karina lived and worked in the remote regions of the Northern Territory, working closely with Indigenous businesses and Traditional Owners to expand business capabilities and tourism opportunities.
Karina is passionate about women’s economic empowerment, the environment and loves reading. Originating from Far western NSW, she is also passionate about Regional and remote Australia. She now lives on Quandamooka Country in Brisbane, with her husband and six-year-old daughter.
Karina brings a wealth of knowledge to SAGE, and she looks forward to supporting you all through your Athena Swan journey. To contact Karina, email sage@sciencegenderequity.org.au.
